Lesson 32

Yogafication is another word I made up that works in synergy with meditationization. Yogafication is the physical aspect, where meditationization is the mental side. Ideally, we want to do both together, but don’t rush this process. It is like learning how to play the piano. First you do the right hand, then the left hand. Finally, you do both together.

Yogafication is turning anything you are already doing into a yoga pose by being aware of your breath, body, and posture. It is about proprioception — awareness of where you are in space. Do you remember the Harvard Mindful Exercise Study from the very first lesson? When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Like the hotel maids who began to view what they did as both work and exercise, you can do the same. You can either just sit there and work on your computer, or you can practice good posture (exercise your core) at the same time. You can reap multiple benefits simultaneously.

To be clear this is not multitasking, but rather this is bringing it all together. This is integration. In meditation, we want to focus all of the mind to a single point. This includes the conscious thinking mind, but it also includes our imagination. If you are thinking about one thing, but imagining something else, all of your mind is not focused on a single point.

The same dynamic is at play here. You are not multitasking, but rather you are bringing all of yourself to a single focus point — body and mind. You are placing yourself in the ideal position for maximum productivity and maximum benefit.

Like with meditationization and all these concepts, start slow and gradually build up. It gets easier with practice. Then, you get to the point where it is established as a good habit. You may have to start with just a few minutes at a time with good posture, and you will have to catch yourself slouching hundreds of times. As long as you never give up and keep practicing, eventually you will be an AI Yoga Master, and it will be automatic.
