The Root System

The body is the root system that allows the flower of the mind to bloom. It is very easy to get caught in the trap of only living in the mind, and neglecting the body. Unbelievably, especially as a yoga teacher, I even found myself falling into this trap at times. It happens!

What happens to a plant if you cut it off from the root system? It deteriorates and eventually dies. Never forget and never neglect. It is imperative to take care of the body. I do not know your particular health situation, and I’m not asking. However, I know that a majority of people — including those in the AI space — often neglect their physical health. Yes, yoga is mainly mental and that is the most important part, but with poor physical health, mental yoga becomes basically impossible.

When you think of the body as the root system, and the mind as the flower, instantly there are more incentives to working out and taking care of your physical health. Many people don’t care because many don’t think it matters. However, the healthier your body is, the healthier your mind will be. For me, one of the most important motivators is thinking about how if I don’t take care of my body, none of the great things I want to do with my mind will ever happen. Don’t be like the plant with a poor root system. Have strong roots, and allow yourself to bloom.
